The Hangover Part III Trailer

Plot: This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

The posters that have been released for this final chapter in The Hangover series have been parodying Harry Potter so it makes sense that the trailer continues with that tongue in cheek attitude. It’s a wonderfully put together trailer that will wet the appetite for any fans of the first two films.

I’m pretty sure that it’s impossible not to laugh at some point during the trailer. It starts with a scene you wouldn’t normally expect of the genre but quickly rectifies this with some great humour and that carries on right to the end.

The plot is still pretty unclear but it seems like Justin Bartha gets left behind again, John Goodman plays a bad-ass villain, some guys really wanna be part of the Joker’s gang but all they could find were pig masks, Heather Graham returns and giraffe lovers will probably be pleased and then less pleased in a matter of seconds. The Man With The Iron Fists [Red Band Trailer]

Stars: RZA (director), Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Jamie Chung, Cung Le, Byron Mann.

Plot: In feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.

The Man With The Iron Fists is the directorial debut from Grammy award winning Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA, co-written by him and Eli Roth, produced, in part, by Quentin Tarantino. The trailer doesn’t really give much away but it looks as though it has enough to entertain fans of Tarantino’s style of directing and it reminds me strongly of Tarantino’s Kill Bill; Lucy Liu features in both and the style of Kill Bill was reminiscent of Asian martial arts films I think.

As we don’t get much plot from the trailer it is difficult to tell who will be the main characters of the story but with Russell Crowe signing on you would expect him to play a rather key part. Although the film is in the English language and is from the United States it clearly wants to try and capture the essence of the Asian martial arts films which always feature fantastic fight scenes and stunts which are always incredible to see and the trailer shows that there is a lot of potential for that style here.

The films original cut was over four hours long and there were talks of splitting The Man With the Iron Fists into two film however it was eventually cut down to just an hour and a half. And though I think the trailer looks exciting this news makes me wonder just how good the film will really be; sure if they cut down from four hours to ninety minutes then what is left should be the very best but if they were able to just discard two and a half hours of the film will what’s left just be average too?

Premium Rush Trailer Released

UK Release Date: 14th September 2012.

Plot: In Manhattan, a bike messenger picks up an envelope that attracts the interest of a dirty cop, who pursues the cyclist throughout the city.

Stars: David Koepp (director), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Jamie Chung.

As anyone who reads my blog will know, I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt; he is a fantastic actor and usually he picks great roles (Inception, 50/50, 500 Days of Summer etc.) but this trailer does nothing to enhance his reputation.

The plot sounds interesting and it should make a good action thriller which is what Premium Rush is being marketed as but the trailer doesn’t contain too much action and does not look that thrilling. Most of the trailer seems to be taken up by Joseph Gordon-Levitt being hit by cars and he must be pretty strong to survive that many crashes.

Premium Rush only really came to my attention this morning and when I looked at the cast I was looking forward to viewing the trailer but I feel let down. It left me feeling rather bored with it and did nothing to increase my anticipation for the film and only managed to decrease my interest.

Hopefully this is just a bad trailer and the actual film will be all right but I wouldn’t bank on it too much.
